Hey everyone. I created this Substack mainly because I had one specific story I wanted to share, which is about how I used AI combined with therapeutic principles from something called “Acceptance & Commitment Therapy” to rapidly change my relationship with a traumatic experience from 25 years ago. The AI Will See You Now
The silence stretched out for a long moment before my psychiatrist finally spoke. In a quiet voice, he said, "What that person did to you was not ethical."
But after that remarkable experience, I found that I was moving through the world in a different way. I was much more open to new experiences in a way that immediately enriched my life. And I think this shift in mindset, which I’ll describe more in future posts is something that anyone can learn.
The name “Consider the Oyster” hints at it. The short version is that some experiences are chicken nuggets, but many more are oysters. And many of us go through life avoiding “oysters,” whether they take the form of food, ideas, literature, music, or anything else.
I want to encourage people to expand their palate for experience, so they can lead richer more fulfilling lives.
